When Should I Get a Pregnancy Test?

It’s best to wait until after you miss your period before taking a pregnancy test. Before that point, the test likely will be highly inaccurate. Keep in mind that even though women are not fertile 100% of the time, if you had sex, it is possible to get pregnant. It’s even possible if you’re on birth control.

 

If you don’t know when your period is supposed to start, you can wait about 17 days after you had sex. If you took a pregnancy test before your missed period, consider taking another pregnancy test once you hit that date.
